If this is your first time in Dublin, most attractions you will want to see are within walking distance.  There’s a lot to see, it will help if you have a tentative itinerary before you arrive. On arrival, check into your hotel and head straight to the Temple Bar District. Walk over the Ha’Penney Bridge and wander the streets. Check out the Wall of Fame before stopping in a pub to listen to music and relax with a pint before you make your way back to your hotel.

One Day in Dublin Ireland Itinerary

Consider having a ‘Full Irish Breakfast’ and get an early start, this will be a busy day. Then, grab a coffee and take a walk along the River Liffey. Don’t miss the Famine Memorial and the Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship in the Docklands. Head to Merrion Square and check out the Georgian doors, Oscar Wilde’s childhood home, and his memorial. Now head to the old library at Trinity College to tour the long room and see the Book of Kells.  You are very close to the Houses of Parliament, Dublin Castle, and St Stevens Green. Grafton Street and the Molly Malone Statue are also in this area.  St Patrick’s Church and Christ’s Church are a short walk from here.

Consider a coffee break at Queen of Tarts for a slice of Bailey’s cheesecake or the Winding Stair Bookshop and Café for lunch with a view of Ha’Penney Bridge. Dublin has a hop-on hop-off bus that will take you down O’Connell Street past Henry Street and the Spire, through Phoenix Park, and out to Glasnevin Cemetery. If time permits stop in John Kavanagh aka Gravediggers Pub for a pint. The bus also stops at Kilmainham Gaol, Guinness Storehouse, and the Old Jameson Distillery. If you go to Jameson, walk around the block and also check out the musician’s corner at the Cobblestone Pub, and, have a pint.

If you have any energy left consider attending Irish House Party or the Traditional Irish Night Show. Head back to Temple Bar to listen to music and have another pint… or two. There appears to be a theme here! If you have a few extra days in the area consider watching a game of Gaelic football, going on the Literary Pub Tour, visiting the National Leprechaun Museum, or taking one of the day trips available.
