Oh Zurich, you are so pretty! Shutters, flowers, cobblestone walkways, lake views, snow capped mountains… Zurich is the definition of picturesque. This is the easiest city I have visited. The train ride from the airport is about 10 minutes and drops you in the heart of downtown. Simply choose a hotel close to the central station, drop off your luggage and start exploring!
Zurich is an easy city to navigate, all the Altstadt sights are within walking distance. The Limmat River divides the old town, church steeples and clock towers are easy to spot throughout the city and keep you oriented. Use my google map to explore city sights. Print this simple city map to make must see notes on.
Food in Zurich is expensive, but water is free! There are over 1,200 fountains throughout the city to refill your water bottle. The cheese fondue at Swiss Chuchi and the chicken cordon bleu at Zeughauser Beer Hall are well worth the money. Be sure to splurge on chocolate and macaroons as you wander the Altstadt. If you enjoy exploring museums. Zurich has over 150! Consider purchasing a Zurich Card; it will cover admission to many museums, dessert at many restaurants, and transportation in the city including the train ride from the airport and a boat ride on the lake.
Many thanks to Zurich Tourism for the complimentary Zurich Card. As always, all opinions are my own.
