Fly into Lisbon Portela Airport and take the Metro Red Line into the city. The red line passes the Oriente Station for train connections to other parts of Portugal and continues towards the final station of Sao Sebastiao. A single ticket price is 1.40 Euro; it is approximately a 20-minute ride into the city. Or arrive from nearby cities by train and take the metro into the city. Choose a hotel at your price point near the Baxio-Chorro Metro Stop. Lisbon is a hillside city, avoid carrying your luggage up a steep hill. Check into the hotel and start exploring!

Day One: Jeronimos Monastery and Belem
Make your way to Comercio Plaza and walk along the water to the famous Pink Street for photographs. Grab a snack at Mercado da Ribera before taking public transportation to Belem. Go straight to Pasteis de Belem for a famous puff pastry (or two). Tour Jeronimos Monastery (closed on Mondays). Cut through Jardin de Paca do Imperio and the Rose Compas to the Monument to the Discoveries. Walk along the water toward the Belem Tower. Take a ferry ride across the Tagus River or jump on the bus to LX Factory for a rooftop view of the Ponte 25 de Abril and Cristo Rei. Grab a bus to the Basilica da Estrela, and be sure to check out the views from the roof. Take another bus to see the gardens of Palacio dos Marqueses da Fronteira.

Day Two: Trams and Santa Justa Lift
Take a ride on the famous tram Ascensor da Bica. Check out Camoes Square and the sculpture of Fernando Pessoa before exploring Rue Garrett. Walk along Rua do Carmo toward the Santa Justa Lift and ride it up the hill. Check out the Carmo Convent before moving on to Rossio Square. Tour the Church of Sao Roque. Take the nearby Ascensor da Gloria and enjoy the views. Grab the bus to Lisbon Cathedral. End the day with a Fado performance.
