    Off the beaten path alert! Convent of Capuchos in Off the beaten path alert! Convent of Capuchos in Sintra Portugal is not well known, in fact, we were the only people there when we visited. The property is deep in the forest and roads leading to the monastery are unmarked. The convent itself is built into the boulders of the Sintra Mountains and camouflaged by trees, symbolizing harmony between people and nature. The monastery consists of a chapel, dormitories, choir, cloister, library, penitential cell, infirmary, kitchen, and latrine all connected by narrow passageways and tiny staircases carved into the stone.
