I have long wondered about Grand Staircase-Escalante. It is so remote that we had always hesitated. But it has slot canyons, a singing canyon, a devil’s garden, we may just try it next year!

I wish I had time to visit this National Monument when I was in Utah. I have to agree that Utah has some amazing parks and this one looks great to visit and can keep you occupied for a few days. I would love to do a few of the hikes and definitely one of the slot canyon ones. It will be on my list for next time I get to visit this amazing area.

It’s a great and detailed guide to the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, especially for first-time visitors. Lots of useful tips and information. I love Utah and spent over 2 months exploring its fabulous areas, and Grand Staircase-Escalante is one of my favorites! I love Zebra Slot canyon and Peekaboo Slot. Scenic Hwy 12 is one of my favorites!

Such is the effort of people to preserve this magnificent wonder for future generations to enjoy! No one will run out of activities to do in this enormous site. I’d personally enjoy backcountry camping or take advantage of the scenic crives with the beautiful vistas.

Wow some really outstanding hikes. What I love about Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument are the structures. Each is more fascinating than the other. Devil’s Garden would catch everyone’s attention.

Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument looks so magnificent. But like you mentioned, one must be prepared for the unseen and unexpected here. It reminds me of a short trek I did in Central India with a native. It was quite a mindblowing experience but needs a strong heart as we are used to city’s safety net. Grand Staircase looks like an adventure in the making.

Utah is surely on my list and I do hope to visit it someday soon. I love the cliffs and the deserts and honestly, I have never heard of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument before. Now, all I can think of is when I can visit and see these spectacular cliffs and rock formations. Thanks for this post, I am now aware of this monument.

We are sorry we missed the Grand Staircase on our visit. We saw it far in the distance from a viewpoint we stopped at but never got close enough to really enjoy that colour variation in the rocks. We would definitely have wanted to scramble through the slot canyons. And check out the Escalante Natural Bridge.

First time I see pictures of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. All the different strangely shaped and colored rock formations look amazing! I would love to do some of the hikes you suggested one day.
