It’s such pity that so many people have no respect for monuments and feel the need to take a bit of it with them as a souvenir, but I guess that it’s a sign of the times that we live in today..

I understand your point about how crowds take away some of the mystery and atmosphere of a spot like this. There are certainly an interesting set of theories about how the stones might have been moved. But many don’t explain the artistic placement. And then here seem to be as many views on what this circle of rock means. We will consider this a a day trip from London the next time we visit. Thanks for confirming it can be done that way.
