  2. Wow! The city does look straight out of a fairytale! Frescoed buildings, red roofs and cobbled roads are indeed tell-tale signs of a city frozen in time!
    Exploring the graphite mine sounds interesting. Ofcourse I wouldn’t miss the castle! I’m always fond of castles and so is my daughter. Riding a wooden raft in a river is an adventurous thing to do, I wouldn’t miss!

  3. We were so glad that we stayed in Cesky Krumlov for 3 days. It was nice to have the city at night with so many of the day tourists gone. It was indeed a fairy tale spot to visit. We wish we had done a raft ride on the river. But we were too busy with touring the city and doing a few day trips.

  4. Now this is a gem discovered. Castles and cobblestone roads are totally out of a book. Trdelnik – I wonder how you pronounce that but whatever and however, I bet it is delicious. It does sound that way given the cinnamon ingredients. The place also, seems devoid of the usual boisterous crowds.

  5. Cesky Krumlov surely looks like a fairy tale city. The photographs definitely shows us how beautiful the place is. And it definitely has a lot of interesting things to do there. I am not surprised that the place gets so many visitors every year. As for resident bears, do they really have bears as residents or are they domesticated bears?

  6. Cesky Krumlov seems to have all the components that make up a fairytale town. I’m curious about the bears we should say hi to in the castle moat! I bet the castle overlooking the town has beautiful views.

I’m sure I would also enjoy having a traditional Czech lunch at a café by the river and trying the sweet cinnamon sour dough. And there’s a Marionette Museum?? How cool is that!   9. I really wanted to go to Pesky Krumiov when I was in Czechia a few years back but unfortunately ran out of time before I had to head to Paris for another engagement. Your post makes me realize just how much I missed out on and makes me want to go back and visit even more! Thank you for the helpful tip of arriving in the early evening, spending the night, and then leaving later the next morning! I love missing the crowds and will make sure to do when I visit. I also appreciate you mentioning that the city mainly runs on cash.

  11. I have to admit I am little bit stunned that most of the town is cash only. I always find (as I am from the UK) that even the smaller countries from the eastern bloc like Czechia, Poland, Latvia, they are more high tech than western European countries and usually use credit cards and contactless or gogglepay and hardly use cash. So that did surprise me. Havent been to Cesky Krumlov yet, it is on the plans and I love to check out that castle.
