Day Trip Itinerary for Nuremberg Germany
7:45 am Nuremberg Germany is a direct one-hour train ride from Munich. Catch the 07:52 train and arrive at Nuremberg Central Station at 8:54 am
9 am Exit the train station and walk through the city gate into Handwerkerhof. Walk past the cafes to Konigstrasse, then walk toward the Imperial Castle on the hill. Stop briefly to check out the nave and Angelic Salutation at St Lorenz Church.
10 am Continue to the bridge, stop to photograph Restaurant Heilig-Geist-Spital on the right, and Hangman’s Bridge on the left. Walk across the wooden Hangman’s Bridge on your way to Hauptmarkt. Visit the Church of our Lady and stop at Schöner Brunnen to spin the ring three times for good luck before walking up the hill to Imperial Castle.
11 am Wander the grounds and check out the city view from the terrace. Tour the deep well or climb the tower and view the photos of the city after the WWII bombings.
1 pm Stop for Nuremberg sausage on a bun and red beer on the way to Tiergärtnertor. Take a walk on the city wall or explore the underground beer tunnels.

3 pm Walk down the hill to Weissgerbergasse and photograph the half-timbered buildings. See Weinstadel, Germany’s largest half-timbered home. Walk across the Kettensteg (chain bridge) and check out the Marriage-Merry-Go-Round fountain next to the White Tower (possibly my favorite fountain of all time).
4:30 pm Stop at the Way of Human Rights art installation on your way back to Konigstrasse. Return to Handwerkerhof, stopping for souvenirs and gingerbread along the way.
6 pm Explore the traditional craft workshops and enjoy Nuremberg sausage over sauerkraut for dinner at one of the outdoor cafes in Handwerkerhof. This area is cash only.
7 pm Board the train back to Munich and arrive a little after 8 pm. Stop for a quick beer on your way back to the hotel and scroll through your photos of the day.
