Quintada da Regaleira is near Sintra Portugal. Car Quintada da Regaleira is near Sintra Portugal. Carualho Monteiro purchased the Quintada da Regaleira property in 1892. He hired Luiji Manini, an Italian opera set designer, to refurbish it as a summer residence. Monteiro’s interest in alchemy, Freemasons, the Knight Templar, and the Rosicrucians is symbolized throughout the design. Quintada da Regaleira gardens are magnificent. The highlight of the garden is a 90 ft deep initiation well with a spiral staircase.
