According to Travel Safe Abroad, the overall risk of travel in Prague Czech Republic is low. There is a medium risk of pickpockets and taxi scams. Avoid getting a taxi on the street, determine the price in advance, and know that the maximum price designated by the city council per kilometer is 1€.

Do not accept old Czech Crowns from money exchangers, they are no longer acceptable. And be aware of fake policemen on the street asking to see your passport and foreign currency, the Prague police do not have the right to ask to see foreign currency. Several airlines fly nonstop to the Václav Havel Airport in Prague. The average flight from LAX to PRG is 14 hours with one layover; nonstop JKF to PRG is 8.5 hours. Prepare for your flight!

How to Get Around Prague Czech Republic

The most economical way to get to the city center from Václav Havel Airport Prague is on public transportation. Trolleybus 59 leaves outside the Arrivals terminal and will take you to the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station on line A. The metro will get you to the city center in 6 – 8 stops.  Taxi (Between €35 and €45) and Uber (about €24) are also available.

Prague is well connected by metro, trams, and buses. 24- and 72-hour transportation tickets are available and include transportation from the airport. The airport express bus is not covered by the transportation pass.

I rented an apartment while in Prague. It was close to the train station but nothing else and I had to have the neighbor unlock the door for me each night, so, I won’t be recommending it!
