How to Best Spend 48 Hours in Prague Czech Republic

Day One: Castles, Palaces, and John Lennon Wall

8 am Grab a coffee and wander through the neighborhood of Novy Svet. Walk to Prague Castle. Don’t be intimidated by the line, it is for security and moves fast. The entrance to the castle grounds is free but does not include entrance to the buildings of Prague Castle. Take a break in the castle café and enjoy the moment. Be sure to see the crown jewels at St Vitus Cathedral before leaving the area.

12 pm Wander around Malá Strana. Have lunch at a sidewalk cafe, visit St. Nicholas Church, and photograph the Lennon Wall.

3 pm Take a canal cruise through Kampa Island.

5 pm Go for a walk along the Vltava River and stop for a selfie with David Cerny’s Baby Sculpture. Cross the Charles Bridge and climb the tower for city views.

7 pm Enjoy dinner and a Czech Folklore Show before returning to the hotel.

Day Two: Dancing House, Czech Food, and Astronomical Clock

8 am Grab a coffee and take a walk along Masarykovo nábřeží toward the Dancing House. Stop by the Hanging Man sculpture of Sigmund Freud on the way to Old Town Square. Tour Old Town Hall and climb the tower. Photograph the Jan Hus Monument and watch the street performers. Hang around the Astronomical Clock to see the hourly procession of the Apostles.

10:30 am Take a cooking class and learn to make a traditional Czech meal.

3 pm Browse the National Museum and shop for souvenirs in Wenceslas Square

6 pm Have dinner and listen to music at the Pilsner Restaurant Municipal House

9 pm Take the Nightwatchmen tour and see the city at night.
