Day Trip to Cordoba Spain
Purchase train tickets online from Renfe. Depart Seville at 0700 and return from Cordoba at 1930. Arrive in Cordoba at 0745 and grab a taxi to the Calahorra Tower. Photograph the tower, river, and bridge gate with Cordoba in the background. Cross the bridge and walk around the Mosque to the Palm Door, and get in line. Admission is free from 0830-0900 and the line moves fast. Plan to spend an hour exploring the candy cane striped Mosque.
Go straight to the Alcazar and get in line. The line only gets longer as the day progresses. The gardens are the highlight, plan to spend an hour wandering. Continue down the street to the Royal Stable and stop by to watch the prancing horses practice. The ticket is good for the entire day if you would like to return in the late afternoon.
You are likely hungry, eat a snack. Do not stop for lunch yet, many attractions close for siesta and that is the perfect time for lunch. Purchase a Patios of Cordoba ticket and follow the map photographing the beautiful gardens; you have until 2 pm.
Head to the Jewish Quarter for lunch and wander the alleys shopping for souvenirs. Peek in open courtyards and don’t miss the Little Street of Flowers. Walk along the Jardines de la Victoria on your way back for the 0545 train to Seville. Stop at Mercado Victoria for a snack on the train.
Pro Tip: Many businesses only accept cash, including the taxi.
