You will find the best things to see, do, eat, and photograph while casino hopping on the Las Vegas Strip, organized roughly from south to north so you aren’t wasting precious vacation time zigzagging across Las Vegas Boulevard. Start your casino-hopping adventure with a photograph at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. The 1959 landmark sits south of Mandalay Bay and remains one of the classic Las Vegas photo stops. Lines can become long, so early morning is usually more pleasant than midday.
Mandalay Bay
Mandalay Bay is a 43-story 5-star luxury resort and casino at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. The property has 3,209 rooms. This resort’s man-made 11-acre beach with a wave pool and lazy river make it one of the kid-friendly hotels on the strip. The main attraction is Shark Reef Aquarium, a 1.6-million-gallon predator-based aquarium, and a walk-through tunnel worth experiencing. Check out their interactive experiences including a dive with sharks. Have a cocktail at Skyfall for a view of the Strip from the 64th floor. Mandalay Bay is also the home of the Foundation Room, an exclusive member-only cocktail lounge.

Luxor Hotel & Casino
The Luxor is a 30-story pyramid topped with a light beam seen throughout the city. This Egyptian-themed hotel is a 4-star property with 4,407 rooms, including 442 suites. It is a replica of the Pyramid of Khafre in Giza Egypt and boosts the largest Atrium in the world. Most of the Egyptian themes have been removed; only a 10-story tall Sphinx in the front of the property and a small city replica remain. Note, that Luxor is named the most haunted resort on the Strip. There are two theories about this. One is the spirits were attached to the artifacts brought into the hotel. The other is that several workers died during construction and the hotel covered up their deaths.

Excalibur is one of Las Vegas’s family-friendly hotels and has a Fun Dungeon Arcade with 4D rides and a pool with a water slide. The casino at the Excalibur is popular due to its low limits.

New York-New York Hotel & Casino is a 4-star resort with 2,024 rooms. Swarovski Midnight Celebration at the Grand Bazaar Shops is a three-minute sound-and-light show featuring a 4,000-pound Swarovski Starburst. The Starburst is 14 feet in diameter and consists of 900 custom-cut Swarovski crystal spheres and 1,800 points of LED light. The show runs nightly from 8:55PM to 9:05PM and is free.
Bellagio Hotel and Casino
Bellagio Hotel and Casino is a 5-star hotel with 3,900 rooms. The property is well known for its replica of Lake Como with over a thousand fountains choreographed to music.

The Vanderpump Hotel

The LINQ Promenade and High Roller
The LINQ Promenade gives you a break from walking through casinos while keeping you in the middle of the Strip. Its signature attraction is the High Roller, a 550-foot observation wheel that takes about 30 minutes to complete a rotation. It’s currently the tallest observation wheel in North America rather than the tallest in the world.

The Venetian and The Palazzo
The Venetian is a 4-star Venetian-themed resort with over 7,000 rooms. Visit the property to see replicas of the Palazzo Ducale, Piazzetta di San Marco, Piazza San Marco, Rialto Bridge, St. Mark’s Campanile, Lion of Venice Column, Column of St. Theodore, and Rialto Bridge. Ride through the canals with singing gondoliers and catch the carnival in St. Mark’s Square. A Gondolier March takes place twice a day. Gaze at the frescoed ceilings as you walk next door to the Palazzo which has a waterfall atrium and gardens.

Even if you don’t go inside, you’ll probably spend more time than expected watching the enormous exterior display change.
Wynn & Encore Las Vegas
Wynn is a 5-star hotel with 2,716 hotel rooms. The property features a waterfall, a dancing fountain at the entrance, an atrium with twinkle lights, and an 18-hole golf course.

Las Vegas Strip Travel Guide
What Has Closed or Changed on the Las Vegas Strip?
Las Vegas changes constantly, which is why older casino guides become outdated so quickly.
Tropicana Las Vegas is gone. The resort closed in April 2024 and its towers were imploded in October 2024 as the site moves toward redevelopment that includes a Major League Baseball stadium.
The Mirage is closed. It shut down in July 2024, and the site is being transformed into Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas, currently expected to open in late 2027.
The Mirage volcano is gone, so don’t build an evening around the old free eruption show.
The Cromwell is now The Vanderpump Hotel. The redesigned boutique hotel opened in 2026.
The Mirage–Treasure Island tram is no longer a useful transportation option while the former Mirage site undergoes redevelopment.
Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. at Treasure Island is permanently closed.
CBS Television City at MGM Grand is closed.
Rose. Rabbit. Lie. and Holsteins at The Cosmopolitan are closed.
Skyfall Lounge is temporarily closed for remodeling as of this update.
Las Vegas shows, restaurants, bars, clubs, and residencies change even faster than the hotels, so always check the resort’s current lineup before your trip.
How to Get Around the Las Vegas Strip
Do not underestimate the size of the Strip. Casinos that look like they’re next door can require a surprisingly long walk once you account for enormous resorts, pedestrian bridges, intersections, casino interiors, and crowds.
The Las Vegas Monorail runs along the east side of the Strip between MGM Grand and SAHARA with seven stations.
The ARIA Express Tram connects Park MGM, ARIA/The Shops at Crystals, and Bellagio.
The Mandalay Bay Tram connects Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and Excalibur.
The Deuce bus runs along Las Vegas Boulevard and can take you between the Strip and downtown Las Vegas. Taxis and rideshares are useful when your feet have had enough, but resorts use designated pickup areas rather than allowing drivers to stop anywhere along Las Vegas Boulevard.
Can You Walk the Entire Las Vegas Strip?
Yes, but that doesn’t mean you should try to see everything in one continuous walk. The resort corridor is several miles long, and walking through the casinos themselves adds considerable distance.
Instead, divide the Strip into sections: Mandalay Bay through Park MGM, ARIA through Caesars Palace, and Flamingo through Wynn. Use transportation for the north Strip when your itinerary calls for Resorts World, Circus Circus, Fontainebleau, SAHARA, or The STRAT.
How Long Does Las Vegas Casino Hopping Take?
Give yourself at least a full day if you only want to see the highlights, and two or three days if you actually want to explore the casinos rather than power-walk through them. A single resort such as Caesars Palace, Venetian, Bellagio, or Mandalay Bay can easily occupy several hours once you add a meal, attraction, show, or shopping.
Do You Have to Gamble to Enjoy Las Vegas Casinos?
No. You can walk through the resorts, see free attractions, eat at restaurants, shop, visit aquariums, ride thrill attractions, drink cocktails, see shows, photograph elaborate architecture, and people-watch without putting a dollar into a slot machine. Casino hopping is really resort hopping.
Best Free Things to See While Casino Hopping
Start with the Bellagio Fountains and Bellagio Conservatory, then see the Chihuly ceiling in Bellagio’s lobby. Walk through the Venetian’s elaborate public spaces, explore the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, see the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat, admire Wynn’s floral displays, and wander through the public art and architecture at ARIA. Free attractions change, so verify current show schedules before planning an evening around one.
What Should You Book Ahead in Las Vegas?
Book your must-see show as soon as your travel dates are firm, particularly for popular Cirque du Soleil productions, concerts, residencies, and Sphere events. I’d also reserve restaurants when dining somewhere specific matters to you. Timed attractions such as the Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck, High Roller, Shark Reef, and thrill experiences are easier to fit into a busy itinerary when you’ve already decided when you want to visit.
Best Time to Go Casino Hopping
Morning is the easiest time to photograph popular outdoor landmarks with fewer people around. Afternoon works well for indoor attractions, shopping, aquariums, and long lunches, especially when Las Vegas is brutally hot. After dark is when the fountains, neon, marquees, Sphere, Eiffel Tower, High Roller, and skyline look their best. A good strategy is to explore one section during the afternoon, have dinner, and then walk back through it after dark.
